Roll out moderation your members will trust
Start gently, learn how the bot judges your community, then let it do more.
Pick the right bot
A.M.A.R. checks every message instantly and is the best first line for most servers. Add M.A.C.R.O. when you need the bot to understand images, documents, scams, or arguments that build up over time. Many servers run both.
Running both bots
- Each bot checks every message on its own. When both find something, members still get one warning and a message is only deleted once: whichever bot acts first does it. On any plan you can choose a bot to act instead, and whether both bots report the same message, only the first report, or only one bot's report.
- A.M.A.R. judges each message by its own words. In channels where M.A.C.R.O. is active, A.M.A.R. leaves violence, threats, harassment, and illegal activity to it, because M.A.C.R.O. reads the conversation and can tell a game or a joke from the real thing. If M.A.C.R.O. can't check a message, for example because it has run out of units, A.M.A.R. acts on what it found. You can turn either of these off.
- On A.M.A.R. Mini or higher, choose for each category whether A.M.A.R. leaves it to M.A.C.R.O., and how sure A.M.A.R. must be to act anyway.
- With the ASCA Core bot in your server and a paid plan on either bot, you can also have messages deleted only when both bots flag them, ask a moderator when the bots disagree, and choose which bot's action goes ahead for each pair of actions.
- Find these under Working with M.A.C.R.O. or Working with A.M.A.R. in either bot's moderation actions.
Start with your moderators in the loop
- Choose a private report channel with /setup.
- For the first week, consider Ask a moderator, so every action is approved by a person.
- Keep context on: it helps the bot read jokes and replies correctly.
Learn from the first reports
- Look at what was flagged and what your moderators rejected.
- On A.M.A.R. Mini or higher, adjust category sensitivity if checks are too strict or too relaxed. M.A.C.R.O. has no sensitivity slider; on Mini or higher, describe your community and choose category actions instead. Both bots let you keep moderators in the loop with approval settings on Free.
- Tell your members the server uses moderation bots and how to ask for a second look.
Then let it act
Once you trust its judgment, switch to Act automatically. The bot will only act on its own when it's highly confident, and borderline cases still come to your team.
